Selection by Albany Business Review recognizes her leadership in building Linium Recruiting from startup to Forbes’ designation as one of America’s Best Recruiting Firms

Linium Recruiting, the Capital Region’s leading professional staffing agency serving industries from IT, science and engineering to health care, accounting and sales, today announced that Miriam Dushane, Partner and Managing Director, Upstate New York has been selected as a “Women Who Mean Business” honoree by the Albany Business Review. The prestigious annual awards program “celebrates local women who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for others, and are leaving their mark on Capital Region business.”

Since spearheading the establishment of Linium Recruiting in 2006, Dushane has built a startup into not only the Capital Region’s leading professional staffing firm, but also one of the best in the nation. Earlier this year, Linium Recruiting was named by Forbes to its list of America's Best Recruiting Firms 2017, and prior to that, it received Inavero’s Best of Staffing® Client Award for providing superior service to its clients. In addition, the firm’s Albany office was named last fall by the Albany Business Review among its 2016 Best Places to Work.

“I am thrilled to see Miriam receive this well-deserved recognition that tells the world what we already know: she is a shining star and role model who is making a difference at Linium and in the Capital Region,” said Joe Burke, Chief Executive Officer of Linium. “Miriam is smart, creative and tenacious, and more than that, she possesses impeccable integrity, a commitment to doing business the right way, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Her success is making our community a better place to live and work.”

Dushane has spent more than 20 years in the human resources field, including the last 17 at Linium. Over the past decade, Linium Recruiting has placed more than 3,000 skilled professionals with over 250 Capital Region companies, serving industries ranging from IT, science and engineering to health care, accounting and sales.

Passionate about leveraging technology to drive a better and more efficient recruiting process, Dushane was an early adopter of video interviewing technology, and in 2015 launched the Linium Hiring Index, an exclusive quarterly measure of the region’s technology job market that helps companies develop strategies to hire the best employees.

Throughout her career, Dushane has been committed to encouraging and preparing the next generation of the workforce. She is a board director for Albany Can Code, a nonprofit that nurtures and trains software developers to fill a growing need among Capital Region companies for skilled software and IT professionals, and a member of the Tech Valley High School Business Alliance, which works to ensure a strong linkage and ongoing interaction between the real world of work and the school’s curriculum and activities. Prior to that, she partnered with Mission Accomplished to develop a program to teach resume writing, interviewing and networking to students in the City School District of Albany.

Additionally, Dushane has led Linium Recruiting’s efforts to help the neediest in the community, supporting numerous charitable agencies, events and activities, and developing a program through which the company contributes to its clients’ charities in lieu of holiday gifts – an initiative that has donated more than $20,000 to well over 50 community organizations.

Dushane will be honored along with fellow “Women Who Mean Business” recipients at a luncheon on Friday, October 6 at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY.
